Visting HUU
At Harrisonburg Unitarian Universalists, we embrace all individuals seeking a spiritual home and community. We invite you to discover a place where you can truly belong.
Arrival
When you arrive, parking is available in our gravel parking lot and adjacent grassy areas. Handicapped accessible parking spaces are located closest to our entrance, which offers a paved drop-off area and ramp. Our greeters will invite you to make a name tag and to complete a visitor form. Many UU congregations offer name tags for members and visitors alike to increase inclusivity and hospitality.
Children
Our "Peace Corner" offers children a welcoming place to sit, explore, and wiggle before service begins. School-aged children remain in our service for the first 10-15 minutes. A dedicated Time for All Ages introduces worship topics in a developmentally appropriate and engaging way; following this, the congregation sings the children out to their classes. Children rejoin the congregation at the conclusion of service, when parents can sign them out. Care for toddlers is available beginning at 10:15 am. Children are welcome in all services, and families may use the Peace Corner anytime.
Coffee Hour
Coffee Hour, a beloved UU tradition, offers light snacks and hot beverages after service. This is a time to reflect, socialize, and be in community with each other. On the first Sunday of every month, we host a potluck lunch immediately following service. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are generally available. Guests are always welcome for lunch and contributions are not expected.
