Harrisonburg Unitarian Universalists is a welcoming and inclusive congregation dedicated to spiritual growth, social justice, and creating a supportive community for all ages. Our members come from areas of Rockingham County, Augusta County, and beyond, to our church located at 4101 Rawley Pike, just west of downtown Harrisonburg. We offer weekly Sunday hybrid services in addition to opportunities for community connection throughout the year.
Position: Hybrid Worship Service Technician
The purpose of this position is to operate the computer technology during hybrid Sunday morning worship services. The Hybrid Worship Service Technician will manage a small system of laptops, TV monitors, webcams, and microphones connected to Zoom and used to enable two-way communication between congregants in the church building and congregants participating via Zoom. The Technician will also serve as the Zoom Host, which involves starting the meeting, admitting Zoom participants, sharing content, monitoring audio and video, and addressing issues when necessary.
Required experience includes using computer technology (Windows required; Mac experience a plus); common applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and web browsers; consumer-grade webcams; small sound systems; and virtual meeting tools. Must have the ability to work effectively with others, follow an order of service, multitask, and solve problems. Experience with Zoom preferred.
Must be available 3-4 Sunday mornings per month, 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Occasional communication with service facilitators via email or phone during the week.
Required Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Experience working with audio/visual and computer technology
Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to supporting church activities
Ability to pass a thorough background check and reference checks as required for all staff
